Free Healthcare Outreach Brings Health Screenings to Kaduna's Kano Road Market

July 30, 2026 · HYAI Newsroom

In commemoration of International Self-Care Day, the Society for Family Health, through its Delivering Innovation in Self-Care programme, partnered with the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board to bring free preventive healthcare directly to residents at Kano Road market.

The outreach, held under the global theme "Test, Track and Thrive," reached a substantial number of residents — providing 345 blood pressure screenings, 56 blood glucose tests, 100 malaria tests, 15 pregnancy tests, and 35 family planning counselling sessions, with 50 referrals made for further clinical care. The programme specifically reached 60 persons with disabilities, reflecting a deliberate effort toward inclusive healthcare access.

One of the Ward Heads of the Kano Road community, Mohammed Lawal, described the outreach as timely and beneficial: residents were grateful for the chance to know their health status and receive professional advice on the spot, without needing to travel to a formal clinic.

The outreach ties into Kaduna State's wider efforts to strengthen primary healthcare access — a reminder that community health support is an ongoing, local effort, not a one-off event.
